The First Person Who Believed in Our Adventures

If you're reading this from North America or Europe, you may be wondering why we're talking about Mother's Day in October.

That's because in Argentina, Mother's Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of October rather than in May, as it is in much of the world. Different countries honor mothers on different dates, but the reason to celebrate them is universal.

For us, Mother's Day isn't just another date on the calendar. It's a chance to stop for a moment and recognize the people who helped shape who we are long before we ever made our first cast.

When we think back on our lives as anglers, most of us remember a father, grandfather, uncle, friend, or mentor who introduced us to fishing. But before many of them, there was often someone else.

Our mother.

Maybe she was the one teaching you to cast, rowing the boat, and celebrating every fish you landed. Or maybe she never picked up a rod at all, but was the one packing your lunch before dawn, reminding you to bring a warm jacket, listening patiently to stories about "the one that got away," and encouraging you to chase the things that made you happy.

Passion rarely grows on its own. It grows because someone quietly believes in it.

Over the years, we've been fortunate to welcome many mothers to our lodges—not only as the biggest supporters of their families' adventures, but as passionate anglers themselves. Watching a mother share a river with her son or daughter is one of those moments that reminds us what fishing is really about: passing along something far more lasting than the catch itself.

As we get older, we begin to realize that some of our favorite fishing memories aren't really about fish at all. They're about the people who made those moments possible. The ones who celebrated our adventures before we ever understood how meaningful they would become.

At our lodges, we often see guests return home carrying more than photographs. They bring back stories. Stories that are shared around dinner tables, with friends, children, and yes—very often—with Mom. It's a reminder that fishing has always been about connection as much as it is about rivers.

The greatest catch isn't always measured in pounds or inches.

Sometimes it's measured in the memories we carry home, and in the people who were cheering us on long before we ever knew where life would take us.

This Mother's Day, wherever you are in the world—and whatever date you celebrate it—we'd simply like to say thank you.

To every mother who taught us to cast, who encouraged our adventures, who accepted early mornings, muddy boots, long trips, and endless fishing stories...

Thank you for helping create the memories we treasure today.

Happy Mother's Day from all of us at Dream Waters Angling.
