Our Story
Our journey began back in 2008, when Roberto Alba and his son Luciano, lifelong anglers and adventurers, teamed up with a close group of friends to take on what seemed like an impossible challenge: to create a world-class fly fishing destination in one of the most remote corners of Patagonia—Lake Strobel, also known as Jurassic Lake.
At Dream Waters Angling, everything starts with a shared love for wild places, great company, and the thrill of the perfect cast.
With little more than passion, determination, and a deep belief in the magic of the place, we founded Estancia Laguna Verde. At that time, there was no road, no lodge, no blueprint—just a dream and the conviction that if we did things the right way, anglers from around the world would come to experience something truly extraordinary.
From the beginning, this has always been a family-owned and family-run company, where father and son work side by side, and where friends became partners, and partners became family. We’re not backed by investors or a large corporation—we’ve built everything ourselves, piece by piece, with love, care, and a commitment to offering something honest, real, and unforgettable.
As the years passed, that original dream began to grow. Guided by the same spirit that launched Estancia Laguna Verde, we expanded to create new and exciting fishing programs across Argentina:

Estancia Laguna Verde lodge is one of my favorite fishing destinations in the world. The lodge itself is very nice, especially for how remote it is. The food is outstanding, and the guides/staff are friendly and professional. The quality and size of rainbows are world-class. If you want legitimate opportunities for rainbows 10 lbs to plus 20 lbs, this is the place to be. It is truly the mecca for giant rainbows!.

People are excited for a unique fishing experience—big trout at ELV and golden dorado from a mothership at the GDRC—but the “soft product” (lodge and food) is just as important as the fishing. When both are done well, it’s a winning combo. Overall, feels like home. Guests want a fishery that challenges slightly but overall makes them feel like confident, competent anglers—solid guides (which you have) who are good teachers help with this.
